About Tunkhannock, PA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Tunkhannock is a borough in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, with many residents employed by the Procter & Gamble facility just a few miles outside of town in Washington Township. The town is small, with only about 2,000 citizens but it is the county seat of Wyoming County. This is because the town has a long and deep history that makes it important to the area. It is a quaint Northeaster town with character and charm that transcend the seasons. Sunny summer skies bring out bikers and walkers while the winter snows are perfect for sledding or a snowball fight.
The name Tunkhannock is a Native American word describing the bend in the neck of a nearby stream as “The meeting of the waters.” The Wyoming County Historical Society and Genealogical Library is located in the town and the library’s collection includes various volumes about New England heritage, newspapers dating back to the 18th century, and historic census records. The library is a great winter tourist spot. You can spend all day indoors staying warm and learning about local history and lineage.
The town has many small hometown eateries and shops, many of which are local landmarks. The Yearbook Diner, for example, claims to have the best breakfast in town. But, if you are out late Blogg’s Pub is the place to be for bar food and fun. The town also has many local events, concerts and parades throughout the year. Downtown is particularly fun and full of excitement in the warmer spring and summer months. The Dietrich Theatre holds concerts, events and performances year round, as well. These types of cultural experiences are what make this small town so special. It is an ideal place to raise children.
